Frequently Asked Question

So what's the deal with MIUI devices?
Last Updated 5 years ago

So, where should I start...

Xiaomi has made the decision to break core Android functionality with their MIUI "optimizations" program.
Let me explain.

How does Cometin work.
Google announced Dynamic Modules at the IO in 2019
With dynamic features you can split an app into several parts. This is exactly what Cometin does.
Cometin uses On demand delivery. Meaning that a part of the app (called a module) is being downloaded to your device when requested. These modules are making use of "Android App Bundle's" (AAB)
Modules will always be distributed by the Google Play Store, thus using an APK from external sources will break Cometin, you cannot download modules when using an APK of Cometin from external sources.

So what's the deal with MIUI?
Somehow MIUI's "MIUI "Optimizations"" program that is enabled by default breaks "Android App Bundle's" (AAB) split apks. which are a crucial for Cometin (or any app using AAB's) to work.

Solution??
On Dec 12 2019 I launched a telegram channel for "Cometin Prepacked Edition" which are split apks that can be installed with SAI. These builds are packed with all the modules pre-installed to work around MIUI's issue.

Limitations
So this prepacked version does have a few limitations.
  1. It's not possible to uninstall or install new modules
  2. You are stuck to the same update schedule as production, no beta modules
  3. The store does not work, meaning you cannot purchase the 5 module limit-remover or the Cometin Cloud license.
  4. I won't give support on MIUI devices, this is the best support I can give

So this fixes my issue right??
I don't know! for many users it does! But I won't be suprised if SAI doesn't work on MIUI devices for the same reason Cometin doesn't work.

Timeline
Nov 23 2019: I decided to exclude Xiaomi devices running MIUI from download Cometin due to lots of 1-star reviews from mainly K20 Pro users. Source

If you're scrolling through the bottom just to find the download link, please read through. The link is in there. I want you to understand why you need a seperate build.
